What will you stop doing and put on your not to do list?

What will you stop doing and put on your not to do list?
I’ve come to recognize I will never be in work/life balance. Where I dedicate only 50% of my time evenly between work and my home life. Any time I made an effort to keep some sort of balance guilt would overcome me.
At work I would be thinking I should be home and when home thinking I should be at work. The back and forth of feeling guilty wasn’t worth it. Now I look to remain in harmony, instead of balance, knowing sometimes work requires and needs my full on focus and dedication. But also seeing family and my personal life is just as or more important as work. There will be times where my only focus will be my family.
Not being conflicted of where, when, and who I should be with removed the guilt. Gone was the time wasted agonizing over doing some work while on vacation or missing a game. Being a business owner and doing it successfully requires an incalculable amount of time. Just as being a great father, husband, and friend requires the same kind of commitment.
How can you stop working towards balance and play in harmony?
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? This is a question I’ve asked myself in the last few days but in a different context. If I continue to write and no one reads it does it matter?
And just like the tree in the forest falling I believe it does make a sound and so it does matter to write daily.
Pushing through, gaining momentum, and fighting the resistance day by day with the deliberate act of writing matters. Building the skill, habit, and grit to continue on matters. Having a body of work matters.
Step 1: Pick yourself
Step 2: Do the work
Step 3: Believe
Step 4: Ship it
Step 5: Repeat
Overdosing on consumption
I’ve got indigestion of the mind
With paradox of choice
I can’t make one
Whether that or this
I’ve been making up lists
Measuring up Pros and Cons
I think I been conning myself
With this bookshelf
Filled to the brim
of books and courses
My cup runneth over
Black I drink it
By the gallons
To keep me awake
As I burn the midnight oil
Cramming it all in like freshman
Trying to capture all the lessons from his senior
Just to past the test
Of course I’ve changed
I’ve been looking to make it
Becoming it’s agent
I’m not keeping secrets
I’m learning it, applying it
Through consistency
Seeing how its the only constant
Its persistent
Forcing me to adapt
Partners together
As I morph
From who I was
To who I am
While catching a glimpse of who I’ll be
But you – you rather stay the same
While I am out here making a name
While tempting to crawl back into bed – don’t. You’ll lose precious time and it’ll become harder for you to gain momentum. Sleeping is not an option when you are working to build something greater.
Get up to rise up.
Make sure everyday to sit in silence to get in-tune to your inner thoughts. As yourself an empowering question just before meditating or sitting in silence to prime your subconscious. It will help reveal the answer or course of action to take.
Keep moving forward regardless of the obstacles.
Believe in yourself when others don’t.
Be willing to do the work and get your hands dirty.
Remember books are not written about cowards.
The time is now for you to be great.
