A Rubber Band Snaps

The humble rubber band you use to hold things together can help you change for the better.

I wear one on my wrist daily when building a new habit or breaking a bad one. It’s pretty simple but highly effective.

Here’s how…if you’re looking to stop eating that 3pm cookie or any other habit you want to change.  Try this – when the craving hits snap the rubber band on your wrist.  The slight stings of rubber hitting your skin will cause your brain to associate “pain” with the cookie. Do this every time the craving attacks and you’ll break the pattern.

Make sure to replace the cookie with a healthier snack like an apple.

Bonus tip: Keep snapping the rubber band AS you eat the cookie

Forgiveness > Permission

Getting a no

Instead of a yes
Don’t they already know

You passed the test

Matters not

‘Cause a no is the motivator to get a “Yes!”

Forget about permission

Ask for forgiveness

A no is only no if you let it be

Don’t let it stop you

I know I won’t in me

Everyone I get pushes me harder

To prove my hypothesis

Elevating my confidence

By turning that no to a yes

I’m given divine providence

Over the populance

What do you ask of yourself?

“Some me see things as they are and say, ‘Why?’ I dream of things that never were; and say ‘Why not?'” – George Bernard Shaw

If you want to improve your life ask yourself better questions?

You may not realize it yet but asking quality questions will help you create a quality life.

The difference between a successful person and most is in the questions they ask of themselves.  They are constantly challenging the status quo through the questions they ask and the actions they take.

Ask a better question and change your life.

The Value of a Complaint

Some people get scared of complaint or become defensive.  I like to embrace them.  The main reason I value a complaint is because they give me a course of action.

It may be something you may have not been aware of that needs your direct attention.  The person giving you the complaint is really offering you a gift.  The gift to make things right for everyone else who comes through your doors.

See to resolve what, who, and/or why is cause for the complaint.  Be grateful to the person letting you know because they trust you enough to care by saying something when most walk away annoyed.  Most will gripe and accept it as it is.  They are holding you to a greater standard and keeping you accountable.

Remember it’s better to have a complaint and embrace it.  Then have quiet mumblings and dissatisfaction.  Most important say, “Thank you,” to whomever is bringing you the complaint.

End of School Year

As the last days of school draw near kids are busy doing busy work.

Meaningless work to fill up the days.

Why not use the time to experiment, create, build, and fail.  Then do it all over again.  I’m pretty sure they’ll actually learn something.

PS: What are the meaningless busy work you are doing that’s preventing you from creating your best?

Missing the Point

Be careful about getting all defensive, argumentative, or worst into a funk when someone doesn’t get the point.

More importantly make sure when you are the one who missed it to ask a clarifying question.  This way you both walk away with a better sense of what is being said.

PS: Never feed the trolls on the web or walking around – keep it moving

Interrupting My Own Pattern

How can I remain in this state of flow

Where things are clicking together

Meshing as one

I’m playing in harmony

And everything is in tune

Following my routine

I get some easy wins

Prayer, Meditation, Exercise, and Diet

Makes all better

Bringing out from within

Clarity & focus

My energy level is supercharged

While I remain level headed

Onto a new path of self discovery

Interrupting my own pattern

Uncovering

Whats beneath

Disrupting myself

To make a better version of me

I made a conscious choice

To build a better me

No longer doing the same old, same old

Bringing in the new

‘Cause the skills that got me here

Aren’t the ones that will get me there

Time to Awaken the Giant within

Take a deep breath

And lets begin

The Self Made Man

The Self Made Man

Chisel in hand

Hammer smashing firmly

Bits and pieces of marble granite

Pierce through the air

Fine dust everywhere

A form is taking shape

Distinct yet so familiar

Almost as if a blindfold has been lifted

My eyes widen

Jaws agape

Now I see how the figure is crafting his escape

Remaking himself

His vision and tenacity

Drawing on his mental capacity

To bring forth the masterpiece

That’s inside himself
